New book, The Ending Element: Calista is up on Kindle Scout till 23 Jan 2015

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

It's been ages since I've updated. Have put up my new book on Kindle Scout and it has been stressing me out...so will just write abit about the whole experience so far.

The lowdown: Kindle Scout allows you to put up your new novel on their platform and readers get to read the first 5000 words and allowed to nominate your book. A month later, Amazon will decide whether to publish your ebook or not.

The cons/ whining on my part: Singaporeans are not allowed to nominate....unless they get around the system somehow which is a big drawback for me. Because how many American friends do I have in my circle?! I have more than the average Singaporean...but still it's a big drawback. I really had no choice but to pump cash into some advertising, like Facebook and Twitter. Initially, I just wanted Facebook....but a few days into the campaign, it decided to be bitchy and FB deactivated my ad account. I was so stressed when that happened!! I only had 30 days to decide my fate!!! So I decided to hurry up with Twitter Ads....Facebook did get its act together a day later though...

Anyway...I have 21 days left...my views are not that awesome...I can only pray and have faith at this point.

Here's a video of me uploading my book on Kindle Scout

And here's the link and synopsis of my book.

Or will finding the Blade Bearer trigger the chain of events that will bring about the end of the world?

Random Stuff

My fave superhero is Batman.
I feel the most awkward in hair salons.
Sometimes it's the passenger seat of a car.
The older I get the more I like being alone.
Without writing, I would just be a blob of nothingness
Not that I am something now but it gives me a more concrete reason to live.

Interview with Stephen Black, author of I Ate Tiong Bahru

Interviewed Stephen Black about two weeks back. Managed to borrow my friend's DSLR video, but couldn't get it to work throughout. So there's some funky video shooting here. But yeah...it was great doing the interview at Tiong Bahru. Filming at night does make things looks prettier.

I Ate Tiong Bahru is a whimsical documentation of real-life characters in Tiong Bahru. An interesting read.

Writing muses

Sometimes I am afraid to start writing a story. Because starting a story is like falling in a hole, and it's hard to get out and snap back to reality when I stop writing it...I tend to get too lost, and forget important everyday things. I guess I need to find a good balance between fiction and reality. I was talking to my friends yesterday about IntrovertXExtrovert...actually, I kinda vary between the two...but after thinking about it, I think I'm probably an Introvert. You can't be a writer if you are extroverted, I think. Anyway, I need to start this crazy epic story which was in my mind 10 years ago. It's time to start it, despite all my fears and insecurities. A writer's job is to write.

On writing

Writing, I love how it is limitless and how you can continue improving on it, as long as you practise and write often. I am currently trying to work on a chapter a day, so that I can give the manuscript to the publisher by 31st January. So far, I have to say, God has been good, and the inspiration has been coming quite consistently.

I just bought a scanner! So shall scan some of my old articles, in case anyone wanna read them. Also my Her World article~ (I'm featured, not that I wrote it)

Personal stuff

I sent sample chapters (the first 2) to this local publisher who was asking for submissions. So I submitted my Bunny Boy story on a whim...and they got back to me, saying they enjoyed the chapters and want the whole manuscript...

But the problem is...I have yet to write it....

So am gonna spend sleepless nights working on it...

I am really happy though...this story is probably the most adult one I have...so I was surprised they would like it...anyway it is gets published, I wanna make it into a drama and have Luhan as the bunny...he would be perfect for it.
